Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the Augusta Colonial Theater’s overall leader, providing leadership and administrative oversight for all aspects of the organization’s operations, including fundraising, grant writing and overall development, project and construction oversight, artistic programming, board relations, production, advertising, marketing, public relations, and future staffing.
As the sole paid staff member of the Augusta Colonial Theater, the Executive Director must understand the evolving nature of responsibilities; clearly understanding that roles will change over time. The Executive Director will be a leader, a motivator and a rallying point for the organization and its partners. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong and consistent personal commitment to the organization’s vision, working to build a shared vision for the future. He or she will be a successful and experienced team builder with the ability to positively influence volunteers and constituencies.
The Executive Director will lead the fundraising efforts in tandem with the Augusta Colonial Theater’s Capital Campaign Committee and Grants Committee, while personally implementing annual fundraising goals, and sitting in on meetings with key donors. He or she must be a proven development officer, a proven leader and team player with a high degree of charisma, drive and energy, a “great communicator” with the experience and personality to gain the respect of internal and external constituencies.
The Executive Director must have a genuine curiosity and interest in theater, cinema, community, live performances, and storytelling as well as a demonstrated respect for and comfort with cultural differences, while maintaining the theater’s historical and structural integrity throughout the renovation project.
