Examples of Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Community & Economic Development, this position manages all aspects of the historic Memorial City Hall Performance Center, including facility rental/usage, marketing/publicity, staffing, facility maintenance, and daily operations (MCHPC is a 550-seat multipurpose performance venue scheduled to open Summer 2018). Implement comprehensive business plan and MCHPC website; market and book facility; develop strong volunteer base to include local theatre/performing arts students and groups; and oversee installation of media and theatrical equipment. Manage budget and financial transactions, and ensure that the theatre meets health, safety, licensing, and other laws. Encourage engagement in artistic activities by networking with local industry and communities, educational organizations, relevant bodies and the public. Performs additional duties as apparent and/or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Requires Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts, Tourism, Theater, Public Relations/Marketing, or Communications related field plus 5 years experience in public relations, tourism and hospitality, events planning, or theater management. (Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of required degree). Experience in implementing business plans and marketing of a performance venue preferred. Must have the ability to provide vision, strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the facility, both artistic and administrative. Must have operational knowledge and skills of technical theatre equipment including audio systems, recording technology, and theatrical lighting and rigging systems. Must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure in a fast-paced theatre environment, work independently, have excellent public relations skills and interact effectively with staff and the public in a courteous and professional manner at all times. Ability to report to work in a timely manner, work non-regular hours including holidays/evenings/weekends and be an active participant in the local performing arts community.
