The Friends of the Bohm Theatre (FOBT), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, is seeking an Executive Director to oversee the administrative and programmatic operations of the Bohm Theatre in Albion, Michigan. Reporting to the board of directors of the FOBT, the Director is responsible for general operations and administration, operating and capital budget development, strategic planning, programming and community relations. The position will oversee the theatre operations staff and volunteer core.
The mission of the Friends of the Bohm Theatre is to create a dynamic venue for performing arts, film, and arts education activities to meet the needs of Albion, Michigan and the surrounding area.
The Bohm Theater is a 1929 pre-depression era theatre and vaudeville house located in the Superior Street National Historic District. The Theatre closed in 2008 after falling into disrepair, and in 2010 tax reverted to the County. The Friends of the Bohm Theatre formed, made plans to restore it, and purchased the property in September 2011. By the end of 2012, the exterior of the building had been stabilized.
Following the exterior stabilization, “Lights, Camera, Action,” a capital campaign to restore the interior and complete restoration of the marquee, was launched to “bring the silver screen back to Albion.” The Bohm had a soft opening in October 2014, and celebrated its grand opening on December 27, 2014.
The Bohm specializes in first-run films and special movies, as well as live performances such as brass bands, comedy acts, acoustical performers, and recitations. The theatre can also be rented for private events.
The FOBT is seeking a qualified individual to serve as its Executive Director. The basic responsibility of this person will be to develop and oversee the administrative and programmatic operations of the fully restored, 400-seat Bohm Theatre. This individual must be able to organize filming and programming and develop a strong base of support for the Theatre in terms of volunteers and visitors for both film and live performances.
