Regional Conferences

The League typically hosts two regional conferences each year, one in the spring and one in the fall, in different locations across the United States. Regional conferences provide intensive, intimate professional development and networking experiences, and the condensed format fits into participants' busy schedules. Members of the League's national Board of Directors act as the conference presenters and share practical and pertinent insights based on their experiences as leaders in the historic theatre field.

Typical conference topics include: The Historic Theatre Advantage; Making the Case for Investment; Raising Capital Campaign Money; Film Presentation 101: Programming, Promotion and Projection; Writing Contracts, Operations Basics; Maximizing Concession Profits; Marketing Q & A; Responsibilities of Nonprofit Boards; Historic Theatre Renovation 101; Reducing Risk and Other Insurance Issues.

Registration will open soon for our Fall Regional Conference in Portland, OR, September 12-13. If you are interested in receiving more information about the Portland conference, please provide your contact information here.

Following its Spring board meeting, the League's National Board of Directors hosted a 1.5 day Regional Conference to discuss historic theatre best practices from around the nation. It was the largest regional conference in League history!

In addition to networking with 23 LHAT Board and staff members and members of the Majestic Theater staff, 64 representatives from historic theatres in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Michigan, Virginia and Maryland, attended engaging educational sessions that provided practical and pertinent insights led by the leaders in the field of historic theatre restoration, renovation and maintenance as well as theatre operations and fundraising.

Special thanks to: the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for its generous support of this conference; to the Majestic Theater, Jeffrey Gabel and his talented staff for hosting the conference; to all of our volunteer presenters for sharing their time and expertise; and to our National Partners and Conference Sponsors listed below, for making this and other League programs possible.
