In April 2013 the LHAT Board of Directors nominated and approved Dulcie as the first to hold a newly formed position called Board Emeritus (see callout box for more information).
In June 2015, Dulcie Gilmore retired as the manager of the 4,249-seat Arie Crown Theater at McCormick Place in Chicago, Il. She has 30 years of experience in successfully operating theatres, including Chicago's Auditorium Theatre and Oriental Theatre/Ford Center, and the Paramount Arts Center in Aurora, IL.
The Governance Committee nominated Dulcie Gilmore to Board Emeritus status because, among other accomplishments, she brings 13 years of service to the League as a member of the Board of Directors 1999-2011, as Immediate Past President from 2007-2011, and as President 2005-2007. Dulcie received the League's 2012 Outstanding Individual Contribution Award for "the vision, dedication, selflessness and excellence she demonstrated in her role as League Board President as well as to her services to the historic theatre field and theatres in the Chicago area."Dulcie brings to the League a treasure trove of LHAT organizational history and experience that will be invaluable to the current Board and staff.
Dulcie is also the past president of the League of Chicago Theatres. She has served on the Chicago Central Area Committee, State Street Council, and the mayoral-appointed State Street Commission. She is a trustee of the Stagehands Health & Welfare, Pension and Annuity Funds, Musicians Union Health & Welfare Fund, Ticket Sellers Pension Plan, and a member of the Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers.
Dulcie has extensive experience in presenting Broadway shows, dance and music. The Chicago premieres of Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon and Show Boat appeared at the Auditorium Theatre under her tenure, as well as international cultural attractions such as American Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi Ballet, and Alvin Ailey. She is a member of The Fortnightly of Chicago.
Dulcie was the recipient of the MS Foundation's "Champion Award," Crain's Chicago Business "40 Under 40", and the Avery Coonley School's Distinguished Alumnae award. She is a graduate of Wells College (B.A., English and Dramatic Literature) and Northern Illinois University (M.A., Theatre with an emphasis in Management). She is an avid horsewoman and rides show jumpers.
