Dr. Laura Corman is a professional educator with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Corman's area of specialization is literacy education, including certification in dyslexia remediation. Over the course of her career, Dr. Corman has been both a classroom teacher and a university professor. Most recently, she taught a developmental literacy course to undergraduates at Rhode Island College. Dr. Corman designed several graduate level teacher education courses, and mentored doctoral candidates through the completion of their dissertations. Dr. Corman was the Chief Academic Officer of an educational publishing company and a literacy curriculum designer for an Israeli e-learning company.
In addition to her professional commitments, Dr. Corman serves on a wide variety of community and national boards. Currently she is a Vice President of Congregation Beth Israel in Austin, TX and is chairing the upcoming fundraising gala. In the spring of this year, Dr. Corman co-chaired a successful Rabbinical search committee. Dr. Corman is a member of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas' Austin Community board, and the Secretary of the Institute of Southern Jewish Life (based in Jackson, MS). In the past Dr. Corman served as a Trustee and officer of Austin's Historic Paramount Theatre.
